13.fast food is rapidly becoming popular all over the world. Some people worry that this type of food is lacking in nutritional content. Furturemore, they also worry that the tradional cuisines will disappear if the trend toward fast food continues. How far do you agree or disagree with this point of view? Write a compositon of it.
Traditonal food will never fade out
The human race had entered a completely new stage in its history. We have just crossed the threshold of the 21st conture and the curtaion of the new millennium is slowly rising. With the steady growth in the country’s economy as well as living standards, the pace of people’s living is speeding up and a lot of changes have taken place in their daily life. More and more people prefer fast food to traditional food, but still, the place of traditional food can not be taken by fast food.
Traditional food considered to be of high quality is still the main steam in people’s daily life. When people are entertaining their guests, especially their distinguished ones, they often choose the traditonal way and fast food is considered too cheap in terms ot standard. Secondary, some people maintain the view that traditional food is more delicious and more nourishing than fast food which is thought to be manufatured in a rough and slipshod way. And traditional food may be prepared in a lot more varieties, so that it may cater to different peole. Lastly, we cannot imagine that one can be brought up completely with fast food, which is a proof that it cannot blossom everywhere and in every situation.
The boom of fast food industry shows that it is popular, especially with the young generation. With fast food, people may have more spare time to reduce the pressure from work and life. It can also free people from the burden of housework. All in all, it suits the tastes of some people.
Though fast food has some advantages and it is popular to some extent, tradional food fill continue to play a more important role and will not fade out in people’s life. In conclusion, fast food can only be supplementary to traditional food.
14.do you agree or disagree with the following statement? People are never satisfied with what they have; thay always want something more or something different. Write a composition about it.
I think it is probably true that people are never satisfied with what they have. They always want something more or something different from what is theirs. This just seems to be part of our human nature. Look at a toddler. Give her a toy to play with and she’s happy----until she sees something else. Then she wants that other toy to play with. If she and her brother are each given a cookie, she will kook to see whose cookie is bigger. She will protest loudly if she thinks her brother is getting more.
The grass is always greener some where else is an old expression, but it is a good expression of how many of us feel. We are always striving for a better job, a nicer place to live, a fancier car, or more expensive clothes. Part of this reaching for more and better is because we care about what other people think and want to impress them. Part of it is trying to make ourselves feel successful. But there’s also something in our nature that tells us we can do better and reach highter.
This isn’t always a genative quality. There’s another saying: “a mans reach should excess his grasp. Or what’s a heaven for?” it is a good thing to be constantly pushing ourselves and looking for something difference, if we don’t try for more and more difference things, we begin to stagnate, like a pool that does not get any fresh water.
The problem comes when we won’t let ourselves be satisfied with anything we have. If we have a comfortable life and still feel as if something is missing. Then we need to loo in ward. The something that’s missing may be in our spirit.
15.Living in university dormitories or apartments in the community?
I think it is better for college students to live on campus during their first two years, and then move into an apartment for off-campus life, while juniors and seniors need the independence of off-campus life.student’s needs change over four years, so their housing should too.
Living on-campus makes it easier to get oriented to the way things are done. You get the whole university experience. Plus, you interact more with other students. This includes not only your roommates, but everyone in your dormitory. The older students in the dormitory can be a big help for the new students. Keeping up with studies in your first year is hard enough. You should not have to worry about finding your way around and figuring out the university bureaucracy.
Living in the dormitory also make a student feel more a part of the uniersity community. There are more opportunities for becoimg involved in university activities and networking with students and university administraction.
Living off-campus, however, is a definite advantage for older students. Fingding an apartment, dealing with leases and the landlord’s regulations, cooking meals, and figuring out budgets are all good practice for life after graducation. This kind of independence helps older students grow in adulthood.
Off-campus housing also gives students a better perspective on what is going on around them. Campus can be like little worlds of their own. There are few children or older people and everyone is focused on education. Getting to know neighbors who are not students is good for students coming from difference places. It is a chance to find out what other people think and feel.
I think a combination of two years on-campus and two years off-campus is a winning combination for most students
