完形填空是一道综合性很强的试题,它不同于单项填空。完形填空的着眼点是整个段落甚至整篇短文。它要求考生要有一定的英语语言知识,更必须具有一定的阅读理解能力和归纳分析能力。完形填空的出题目的是考察学生综合运用英语知识的能力。
专升本英语中的完形填空就是在一段难易适中的短文中(近几年多是记叙文),一般是挖掉10个空,要求考生从所给的选项中选出最佳答案。
完成这类题目,要求考生必须确定每一空所应该填的词的根据或理由,这些根据和理由全部在段落之中。根据单纯的课堂语言经验还不能真正准确快速的完成这一道题。短文的各段各句之间存在着一定的内在联系,所在选项只有通过对短文的语境,语义,语篇的深层次理解才能使短文的意思与结构完整,恢复原貌,成为通顺的完整的有机整体。
完形填空中出现的单词以实词为主,虚词为辅,平时在常规学习中要打好扎实的词汇功底。不能一味注意它们的搭配,更要注意它们使用的场合以及语用功能,并且还要做好词汇与词汇的意义比较。
做这道题的基本步骤:
1. 抓住中心,了解文章大意
一般说来,我建议大家用欣赏性阅读模式来解决这一题型。我们应先快速阅读一下整篇短文,把自己想象成里面的主人公,根据文章的大意,结合自己所学的知识和经验,开动脑筋,揣摩特定情境下主人公的心理变化,动作特征以及故事的合理发展,对该文的内容不断的进行判断和推理,并进一步阅读加以验证和修改。
注意事项:
抓住了主题句,文章大意基本也就懂了。开篇一句一般来讲是了解短文全貌的窗口。主题句一般不设空,是考生进入角色的敲门砖,其位置一般在段首 。另外,还要注意文章后面对前面选项的提示,对做题有极大的帮助。
2. 通篇考虑,注意分类
做题时,要注意语用固定形和语境逻辑形两大类。应该先解决语用固定形的选项,此时部分句子已经畅通,有助于作难题。
3. 通读全文,复核答案
做完填空,我们对整篇文章的理解可以说是从最初的感性认识上升到了理性的高度,这时从整体角度再次阅读,往往会发现一些其他问题,对核准答案很有好处。
下面我们就题目加以详细的解释。
(一)

 who doesn’t love sitting beside a fire on a cold winter night? Fire is one of the man’s greatest friends, but also one of __1_ greatest enemies. Many big fires are caused by carelessness.
